How does your child learn best? If you’re new to homeschooling or early in your homeschool journey then you might not know the answer yet. But that’s okay.
As you and your child begin your homeschool journey you will begin to see what works and what doesn’t. What best helps your child to remember the material and make it stick? What methods are sure to bore and frustrate your child. There is no right or wrong answer here. There is only what works best for your own child as an individual.
Eclectic homeschooling is the idea that the best education for your child is a personalized education. No two children are exactly alike. And yet so often we try to fit our children’s education into neat little one-size-fits-all boxes.
But one size doesn’t fit all. And that’s why homeschooling is so great. Because you have the opportunity to tailor your child’s education to fit their learning style and interests to maximize their learning potential.
Eclectic homeschooling doesn’t mean you can’t use a curriculum. It just means that you closely monitor and adapt your homeschool to work best for your child. If that means worksheets, then great — bring em on! If that means a certain curriculum then by all means stick with it. Or if that means a combination of homeschool methods and styles or a completely custom solution, then that’s great too.
