Reading 4th of July books for preschoolers and other young children can get them excited about celebrating Independence Day and help to teach them about this national holiday in America and what it means. Independence Day books for kids try to keep things simple and fun, yet educational at the same time.

In this post I have a rounded up 18 different Independence Day books for kids of many different ages to enjoy from toddlers to 7th grade. Even your older children might enjoy reading these 4th of July picture books with their younger siblings or cousins.

The 4th of July is a time for celebration in America. It’s a time when we can all come together to celebrate and appreciate the independence we are blessed with.

This selection of 4th of July books are intended to specifically teach children about the 4th of July in America (also known as Independence Day).

While there are a lot of great patriotic books and children’s books about America out there, I wanted to specifically focus on 4th of July picture books and a few great choices for longer read aloud Independence Day books for kids that can be read by older children or to your younger child over the course of 4th of July week.

Whatever Fourth of July books you decide to read with your child, make sure to select books that not only get them excited to celebrate with fireworks, barbecues, and parades. But also make sure you choose books that educate them about the reason why we as Americans celebrate the 4th of July — because oftentimes with all the festivities that reason can easily become lost in the background.
